It has been a while since I have written any travelogue and am coming to you with my experience of driving to Laknavaram in January.

About the destination – Laknavaram

Laknavaram is situated in Telangana and is home to a suspension bridge over a lake in this small village.

Popularly visited by tourists from the Telugu states but also from nearby regions.

Laknavaram is situated in the newly created Jayashankar Bhoopalpally District which has forest lands and this lake is situated just at the border.

The lake itself was built by the rulers of the Kakatiya Dynasty for irrigation requirements in the region.

How to get to Laknavaram

Laknavaram is best visited in your personal vehicle as you plan your trip to this beautiful destination.

You can alternatively, take a train to Warangal and a local Telangana State Transport bus to Laknavaram which could be a bit tedious owing to the distance and narrow roads.

What to Do!

The destination offers you multiple suspension bridges with a newly constructed one adding to the tourist attractions.

Also, has a restaurant on-site in the Telangana Tourism – Haritha Resort with cottages on a island nearby which is a innovative eco-tourism option provided.

You can opt for a speed boat in the Laknavaram lake and also explore a water body safari, where in you travel for 10-15 minutes in a open top Jeep and explore the water bodies close-by.

Where to Stay at Laknavaram

Laknavaram offers cottages as already mentioned and run by the Telangana Tourism Department and

In addition, you can also look at the below option:

For those who have a weekend on hand, you can explore staying at Tadvai Huts at Eturnagaram which is promoted by the Telangana Forest Department and has beautiful cottages for stay.

My Experiences and Recommendations

We started around 07:30 from the ORR exit leading to Warangal, The drive was smooth until Bhongir.

The highway further is in construction and being widened into a 4 Lane highway, so expect heavy traffic and vehicles coming in opposite direction.

You would need to encounter the city traffic in Hanamkonda, Warangal as you get into the Bypass which once you pass, is a double lane road (again some road laying works going on as you reach Laknavaram).

I would recommend you to pack your snacks / lunch for a wonderful time with family or friends in Laknavaram however, be wary of the monkeys near the car parking location.

You would need around 1-2 hours to explore the place, go on a water safari and have your food.

Places to visit around Warangal

  • Ramappa Temple: Also known as the Ramalingeshwara temple, was built in 1213AD and is built on Sandstone
  • Thousand Pillars Temple: Also known as the Rudreshwara Swamy temple is home to the temples of shiva, vishnu and surya
  • Warangal Fort: Capital of the Kakatiya Dynasty was in existence since 12th Century

The above three destinations find a place in the tentative list of the heritage sites of UNESCO.
